Arts Management Specialist Travels to Bolivia

Art Waber recently returned from an eventful two-week POA visit to Bolivia.  He spent the first five days in La Paz as a guest of Elizabeth Bowles, observing projects and meeting with colleagues from Alianza Bolivia-Utah/Compañeros de las Américas.  Two days were spent at the Museo de Etnografía y Folklore teaching an arts management workshop for professional theatre directors, choreographers and composers.  He also met with the coordinators and participants in the “Emprender Educando” project, and participated in dialogues with Maritza Wilde (director, FITAZ international theatre festival)

Teacher-in-Residence Arrives to Busy Schedule Wednesday

Daniela Balderrama arrived at RDU for the start of about a month of activities combining professional experiences (seminars, workshops, visits to schools) to enrich the teaching of English she does at the Centro Boliviano Americano in Cochabamba , along with some fun activities and events to allow her to get to know NC and its people (museums, parks, Farmers' Market, beach).  Hank Graden is responsible for the coordination of her schedule.

Duke Work-Study Intern to assist NCPOA

We are happy to welcome Joe Repp as the Duke work-study student who will work closely with Partners, assisting with Member Relations, including tasks such as maintaining the membership directory, sending welcome packets to new members, helping to create a member recruiting plan for NC POA; and with other tasks such as researching internship opportunities in Cochabamba for interested North Carolina students and researching possible grants that would jointly fund NCPOA and DCID (Duke Center for International Development) projects around the broad theme of sustainable development in Latin Amer
